Covid 19, where are we at ?
Dear ones
First, we hope that all of you will be well physically and emotionally, as well as your family and friends.
In this exceptional situation full of uncertainties and fear, we wholeheartedly want you to stay safe and follow instructions in all things the safety procedures. Les We strongly encourage you to maintain social estrangement and do everything you can to take refuge in your homes and take all necessary precautions when you must leave. If the well-known ‘new normal’ is already beginning to resume in their countries, we also want them to be cautious and follow the instructions of their governments.

We take advantage of this release to thank endlessly all our customers for their commitment and wonderful feed-back that always motivates us and excites us very much to move forward. The simple fact of knowing that we have in our hands the privilege of delivering great experiences, forming beautiful memories is something that moves us and accompanies us every day.
Also thank all the staff of Ko’KayaK, without them would have been impossible to work the wonderful way we do. We are very grateful, proud and confident that this union helps us in the face of any adversity. Teamwork is our sincere motto forever, and above all, right now.
Our 2019-2020 season was abruptly ended by this virus. Many of our colleagues and the whole world also went through the same situation and we are aware of the tragedy it has brought for many. Hopefully we want it to happen as soon as possible, keeping everyone safe above all else. We want to hold on to positivism and think that in September we can start the new season.
For this, the whole team has been launched and we are working on different protocols that in addition to contemplating the usual safety in all adventure and entertainment sports activities, we will worry about breaking the Covid-19 transmission chain through various control and sanitization systems.
This page is very dynamic, and we will be publishing more details of all our protocols as we implement them.
Now we are working on a certain protocol. It has been prepared by a committee of experts in outdoor activities and adventure tourism and nature operators of the Los Lagos Region collecting bibliographic sources from national and international organizations.
The mentioned protocol involves adequate preparation of the company and its human team in the field of first aid, emergency protocols and risk prevention according to current national legislation and complements the risk management plan that each company has for emergency response during the operation.
In the following points you will find a general outline of this protocol. Likewise, you can find the document in its entirety in PDF format in the top right of this section that we recommend reading.
- The company must sign a firm and coordinated commitment to minimize the risk of contagion for its staff and customers. These efforts should have coordination and a plan that should complement the company’s current security protocol.
- The company must transparent its protocols to its customers and adapt the pre-travel information to the new reality of contagion prevention in its forms, transparenting the preventive mechanisms and the causes of suspension of activities if necessary.
- The company must provide the customer with the greatest amount of information before the trip or the excursion remotely, to advance this information and reduce the time of explanations in the field.
- The company must have a staff monitoring log where periodic Sars-Cov-2 screening will be recommended to all staff in contact with passengers, especially guides and drivers.
- Accompaniment of all our staff members and strategic partners in the process of being healthy.
- Covid-19 special collection and transport procedure.
- Welcome to our exclusive Base of Operations, with properly equipped guides and sanitized facilities.
- Constant hand cleaning protocols: for this we will implement new hygiene points at the base but also throughout our expeditions, all with biodegradable soaps and respect for nature.
- Cleaning and hygiene protocols for specific equipment.
- Maximum rigor in all the above.
We are closely following all the updates that this situation is continually generating, but only from official sources such as WHO or the decrees of our government, as well as from other democratic governments around the world. Today there is too much information and we do not want to be distracted by manipulated and false information.
Soon we will share another protocol, this will be with instructions and procedures specific to Ko’KayaK.
Here in Ensenada and the gate of Patagonia we have faith to be in the best place to be able to get out of this and we give thanks for it.
See you on the water.
